Intangibles Legal is a law firm founded in Barcelona in 2014 and dedicated to the legal advice on industrial and intellectual property rights (patents, trademarks, industrial designs, copyright, etc.), unfair competition, advertising, technological contracts, telecommunications law, privacy and personal data protection, including representation in legal proceedings in these areas.

Sergio Miralles

Sergio es socio fundador de INTANGIBLES. Cuenta con más de veinte años de experiencia en el ámbito de la propiedad industrial e intelectual y las tecnologías la información (IP/IT), trece de los cuales como responsable del Departamento de IP/IT en España de Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. Inició su carrera profesional en Uría y Menéndez. Es miembro del Ilustre Colegio de Abogados de Barcelona desde el año 1995.

Sergio tiene una dilatada experiencia en prácticamente todas las áreas de la IP/IT. Lleva años asesorando y representado a compañías multinacionales en litigios de patentes, marcas, propiedad intelectual y competencia desleal, entre otras áreas. Asimismo, asesora regularmente en relación con cuestiones contractuales y regulatorias y ha participado en numerosas operaciones de M&A transnacionales.

Formación

Sergio estudió la Licenciatura de Derecho en la Universidad de Barcelona, cursando parte de su formación en la Università degli Studi di Bolonia gracias al programa “Erasmus”. En 1995 completó con calificación de “merit” estudios de postgrado en materia de propiedad industrial (LL.M. in IP) en el Queen Mary and Westfield CollegeUniversity of London (Reino Unido) gracias a una beca de “La Caixa/British Council”.

En el año 2011 Sergio obtuvo el Diploma de Estudios Avanzados (DEA) en la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) tras defender un trabajo de investigación sobre cuestiones jurídicas de las secuencias genéticas.

Publicaciones, conferencias y actividades docentes

Sergio es autor de diversos artículos y ponente en numerosas conferencias y seminarios. Desde hace años combina su trabajo con la docencia. En concreto, ha colaborado como profesor asociado en la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona y actualmente participa como docente en programas de master de IP/IT de la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, de ESADE y de la Universidad de Navarra.

Sergio Miralles

Sergio is founding partner of INTANGIBLES. He has twenty years’ experience in intellectual property and information technologies (IP/IT), thirteen of them as head of the IP/IT Department in Spain for Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. He started his career in Uría y Menéndez. He has been a member of the Barcelona Bar Association since 1995.

Sergio has a vast experience in almost all areas of IP/IT. As far as litigation is concerned, he has advised and represented multinational companies in patent, trademark, copyright and unfair competition proceedings. He has also been involved in a number of multijurisdictional transactions and deals. He regularly advises on contractual and regulatory matters, including data protection.

Studies

Sergio obtained his Law degree from the Universitat de Barcelona (UB). He studied part of his degree at Università degli Studi di Bolonia  through the EU Erasmus programme. Having completed his Law degree, Sergio was awarded with a La Caixa/British Council scholarship. He read his LL.M. in IP at Queen Mary and Westfield CollegeUniversity of London United Kingdom) in 1995 with the qualification of merit.

Sergio obtained a Diploma in Advanced Legal Studies in 2011 at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) after defending a research paper on legal issues related to gene sequences.

Publications and seminars

Sergio is the author of several articles and a speaker at numerous conferences and seminars. For years he has combined his work with teaching. Specifically, he has collaborated as an associate professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and currently teaches in IP/IT master’s programs at the Autonomous University of Madrid, ESADE, and the University of Navarra.
